One of my referrer links today was from gooooooogle. Now I normally get a few hits from google searches, but this one was interesting, because the search string was “pseudo James”.When I followed that link my blog at home and my (soon to be reactivated) Sun blog were the top three hits.But I’m not pseudo, I’m real!
When you’re overseas and want to use a Telstra Telecard, you need to call a local number to get hooked into Telstra’a network.You find those numbers here:http://www.telstra.com.au/callingcardshop/tc_access_numbers.htmI just found out that I have to use the first number (China Netcom Group) from my mobile phone or from the SCERI office, and I use the second one (China Telecom) from the hotel. When I started at Sun back in 1999, the first person I met was a lady by the name of Louise Gorman, who was part of the team at reception. Louise, along with Rebecca and Jane, made me feel very welcome, always remembered my name, and made sure that there was a friendly voice answering the national head office phone number.Sadly, Louise has been battling cancer for the last two or so years, and this morning she succumbed.I cannot make it to her remembrance later this week, but I will always remember her.
I read Scott Granneman’s Op-Ed in El Reg in my lunchbreak today. He makes some very interesting points about the EULA for Microsoft Windows Vista.The thought that keeps going through my head is “Buy a Mac instead” — which given my incipient launch into real digital photos….
